Frequently Asked Questions
What is full-service residential design? +
Full-service design is ideal for clients with larger budgets ($30k+) who want a seamless, all-inclusive design experience. From start to finish, we take care of everything—whether it’s furnishing your space or handling major construction. Our team works closely with your architect or contractor to ensure every detail is thoughtfully executed, wrapping up with a styling session that transforms your home into a polished, beautifully curated space.
What is the first step in hiring Joey Snow Design Co. for my project? +
The first step is simple—schedule a complimentary 15-30 minute discovery call with us through our website or email. It’s helpful if you can include some photos and a brief description of the space(s) you want to work on. Our team will reach out within 1-2 business days to schedule your call and discuss your project.
What is your In-Home Consultation fee? +
For full-service design projects, we offer a 90-minute in-home consultation for $375 (+$50 for non-local). This is a great way for us to visit your space and hear about what’s working (and what’s not). After the consultation, you’ll receive a detailed proposal with the project cost, timeline, and budget. Should you move forward with full-service design, the consultation fee will be credited toward your design fee.
How long does the design process take? +
Every project is unique, but on average, full-service design projects take about 3-6 months, with larger construction projects typically requiring 9+ months. Keep in mind, timelines can shift depending on the scope of work and potential delays from construction or supply chain issues. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
Should I expect delays during construction? +
Construction can be full of surprises. While we work closely with your project manager and contractor to stay on track, major renovations—like opening up walls or changing the layout—can uncover unexpected challenges. We always strive to manage expectations and will keep you informed if any changes affect the timeline.
What if my budget is smaller or I’m only looking for styling/decorating help? +
If your project is on a smaller scale or you’re mainly looking for styling guidance, we recommend our studio/shoppe services. This is perfect for clients who want help with finishing touches, like decor, artwork, and textiles, while staying within a more flexible budget. Our team will assess your needs and create a plan that works for you.
Who are your studio services intended for? +
Our studio services are designed for clients who already have most of their furniture but need expert help with decor, artwork, rugs, and accessories. We’ll work with you to bring everything together, creating a space that feels cohesive and complete. If your project needs a little extra attention, we can also explore additional services during your session.
Can I use my existing decor? +
Of course! We love incorporating your existing pieces into the new design. Whether it’s furniture, artwork, or decor, we’ll find ways to blend what you already love with new selections to create a space that feels fresh, yet familiar.
Can I only hire Joey Snow Design Co. if I live within the San Diego area? +
While our full-service design is ideal for clients in San Diego and Orange County, we’re happy to take on projects across the U.S. for the right fit. If your project is a great match, distance is no obstacle!
What is the difference between project management & hiring a contractor? +
Project management ensures your design vision is being executed correctly, on time, and within budget. We coordinate everything, making sure every detail aligns with your concept. However, a contractor is responsible for the actual construction work—hiring the right trades, overseeing labor, and ensuring everything is up to code and insured. Think of project management as the design advocate ensuring everything goes smoothly!
Does Joey Snow Design Co. work with my contractor? +
Absolutely! We work hand-in-hand with your contractor throughout the entire process. From providing them with design drawings and specifications to ensuring the vision is realized as planned, our team keeps things running smoothly on the construction side while you focus on enjoying the process.
